Personalized instruction, performance-based program
We offer specialized training for auditions, festivals, competitions, and RCM exams.
Nurturing passion, building skills
Dr. Furtado Piano Studio, founded in 2022, nurtures a passion for music and guides students toward their musical aspirations. Through personalized instruction and a supportive learning environment, we empower students to reach their full potential.
We offer weekly piano lessons on a Steinway-designed Boston grand piano. To showcase student progress, we organize regular performances at 10,000 Hours Studios on a Steinway B, and at Epiphany Anglican Church on a Boston grand piano.
My primary goal is to equip students with the technical prowess and theoretical foundation needed to approach new pieces confidently. This involves a structured curriculum focusing on coordinate movement, sight-reading, and music theory. I tailor my instruction to each student's unique needs, fostering a love for learning while preparing them for RCM exams, competitions, and potential careers in music.
In addition to technical proficiency, I aim to ignite creativity within my students. By delving into composers' intentions and delving into historical contexts, I assist them in developing a nuanced comprehension of the music they perform. Encouraging experimentation and personal expression enables them to discover their artistic voice within the classical music framework. This blend of discipline and creativity empowers them to evolve into not just proficient pianists but well-rounded musicians capable of conveying depth and artistry in their performances.
Prospective students may audition/interview to determine if the studio is the right fit. Successful students are eager to learn, have strong listening skills, and demonstrate discipline. Parental support and involvement play a crucial role in a student’s progress and success.
Enrollment is based on a per-term structure, but new students may join at any point throughout the year. Tuition will be prorated for students starting mid-term.
Details regarding tuition, policies, and expectations will be discussed during an in-person or virtual meeting following the student assessment.
Please note that books, examinations, festivals, studio classes, theory lessons, recital fees and other costs are not included in the tuition.
Note that high school students taking the RCM Levels 7 and 8 exams may be awarded music credits towards their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

"My son took piano lessons with Daniel for many years. I found him to be such an excellent teacher and kind person, that I decided to take lessons with him myself! Daniel is patient, encouraging and teaches diverse techniques that help us learn. I enjoy my lessons immensely! I have progressed in such a way that I didn’t know was possible.
Thank you so much Daniel!
A grateful student,
Mélissa"
